Infant Sleep Consultant Serving the UK - Including Families Across the North East
I'm Sarah Scott, founder of The Serenity Snooze Co. I'm a registered mental health nurse with over 12 years of NHS experience, and a certified infant sleep consultant. I support families across the UK, Ireland, and worldwide through online consultations - and for families in the North East of England, I'm also right on your doorstep.
Whether you're in Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead, or anywhere else in the country, my goal is the same: helping you and your little one get the sleep you both desperately need.
Why Sleep Support Matters More Than You Might Think
Sleep deprivation is one of the hardest parts of early parenthood - and one of the least talked about. Not the kind of tired you can fix with an early night, but the deep, relentless exhaustion that affects your mood, your relationships, your confidence as a mam, and your ability to function day to day.
Research consistently shows that poor infant sleep impacts the whole family - not just the little one. Parental mental health, relationship strain, and work performance are all affected when sleep breaks down. As a mental health nurse, I see this clearly. As a mam, I've felt it too.
Getting the right support early can make an enormous difference - not just to your nights, but to your whole family's wellbeing.
What Makes a Good Infant Sleep Consultant?
With the infant sleep industry currently unregulated, it's worth knowing what to look for before you book anyone.
Following a BBC investigation in May 2026 that exposed unsafe advice from unqualified consultants, many families are rightfully asking harder questions. Here's what I'd encourage you to consider:
Qualifications and training. Look for a recognised certification in infant sleep consulting - not just a short online course. I hold an OCN Level 3 qualification in infant sleep consulting and I’m currently working towards my Level 6 in infant sleep consulting.
Clinical background. A healthcare background matters more than many people realise. As a registered mental health nurse, I understand the clinical picture around infant sleep - including the impact on parental mental health, safe sleep guidelines, and when to refer families for additional support. This is something most sleep consultants simply cannot offer.
Approach to sleep training. Make sure the approach to sleep training fits with your family. My approach is always tailored to your little one's age, temperament, and your family's values. There is no single right way and a flexible approach is needed.
Safe sleep knowledge. This should be non-negotiable. Every recommendation I make is in line with current NHS and Lullaby Trust safer sleep guidelines.
Who I Work With
I support families with little ones from newborn through to toddler age - typically between 0 and 5 years. Whether you're dealing with frequent night waking, early morning rising, short naps, difficulties settling, or a sleep routine that's completely fallen apart, I can help.
I work with families across the North East - including Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, County Durham, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, and the surrounding areas - as well as families across the UK, Ireland, and worldwide through online consultations.
How I Can Help

A Note on Online vs In-Person Support
Many families assume they need a sleep consultant who can visit them at home. In reality, the most effective sleep support happens through conversation, observation, and a well-written plan - all of which can be delivered just as powerfully online.
That said, if you're local to the North East and would prefer to work with someone who understands your area, your NHS services, and your community - I'm here, and I'd love to help.
